All students at ESMS will be given a pin number. Put a check or cash (a check is preferred) in the Bank-A-Meal envelope, seal it, and fill in the blanks on the outside. Note: The bottom of the envelope is for office use. Please make sure your name, number, and amount can be read, so we can be sure your money gets put in the right account. There will be a deposit box near the office in which to place the envelopes by 9:40 a.m. Please do not fold or wad up the money when putting it in the envelope. Change will not be given at the office, so please make sure you have the correct amount. Deposits must be made before 9:45 a.m. to be in the account by lunch that day. To avoid the frustration of waiting to fill out envelopes and the possibility of being late for class, please fill out the envelopes before your child comes to school. Additional envelopes may be picked up in the office at any time. We encourage you to deposit as much money as possible at one time because it will be easier on you and the office staff. (We suggest you figure up how much your child will spend in one week or two weeks and deposit that amount. Then, make your child responsible for budgeting that money to last that long.) A check is preferred, but if you send cash, please send only bills, no coins.
When you eat a meal, the cost of that meal will be deducted from your account, if you bring a meal, are absent, or, or any reason, do not eat a meal, your account is not charge for that day, and the remains in the account for future use. YOU MUST HAVE YOUR PIN NUMBER TO PURCHASE ANYTHING THROUGH THE CAFETERIA. THE LUNCH LINE WILL BE ENTIRELY MONEY-LESS. They will have no cash in the lunch line whatsoever, so only the P.I.N. number will be accepted. The cafeteria workers will tell you the amount of your purchase, and if your balance is below $3.00, so you will have time to put money in your account before the next day. If you need to know your balance, ask, and the cafeteria workers will be able to tell you. You will be able to purchase both full meals and a-la-carte items with this system. You will need to make sure you have enough money in your account to cover your purchases. Should a student not have enough money in his/her account to cover the cost of the meal, special arrangements will be made with the school office for the student to eat. Money remaining in your account at the end of the school year will remain in your account until the next school year. Eighth graders will have their money returned with their end-of-the-year items.
We believe this system will be more convenient for you, provide a better record of money collected and meals that have been eaten. If you ever need a record of the transactions in your account, it may be obtained at the office. This is a chance to teach your child how to handle money. If you will make your child accept the responsibility of keeping track of how much money is in his/her account and keeping track of his/her P.I.N. number, we feel they can learn some valuable lessons that will help them in being successful in handling money in their futures. We thank you for your cooperation, and if you have any questions, call the school and ask for Bank-A-Meal assistance or Mrs. Banhart.
